Trips to Machu Picchu by Bus 2 days + Mountain
What is Machu Picchu? It emerges in the heart of a landscape of imposing summits covered by exuberant jungle flora. Like other monuments of its surroundings, in something similar, it was built in a region relatively close to Cusco, between the rivers Vilcanota-Urubamba and Apurímac, corresponding to Vilcabamba properties that are characterized by steep slopes and a landscape of misty forest , typical of the Amazonian Andes region.
Definitely, an environment very different from the mountain and coastal areas of Peru. The denomination of Vilcabamba was given to the region shortly after the Spanish invasion, by extension of the name of the valley, also known as Vitcos, the nerve center of the war of resistance against the Spanish invasion led by Atahualpa’s brother, Manco Inca, and those who succeeded him in command. The strategy of the “Inca of Vilcabamba” to entrench itself in that rough region for being almost impregnable, allowed them to resist the Spanish conquest for about 40 years, from 1537 to 1572.

Tourist Information of Tours Machu Picchu Peru
Travel to Machu Picchu is considered at the same time a masterpiece of Inca architecture and engineering. Its particular architectural and landscape characteristics, and the veil of mystery that has woven around it much of the literature published on the site, have made it one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet with trips to Machu Picchu from the city from Cuzco and other alternative hiking routes such as short Inca trail to Machu Picchu, classic Inca trail to Machu Picchu, Inca jungle trail to Machu Picchu, Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu, Inka jungle trek to Machu Picchu, Shockquirao trek to Machu Picchu, Ausangate Trek to Machu Picchu, Huchuy Qosqo to Machu Picchu, there are also fast trips without much trek to Machu Picchu that can make their trips to Machu Picchu by train or trips to Machu Picchu by car .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Machu Picchu has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1983, as part of a whole cultural and ecological complex known under the name Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu located in Peru. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
On July 7, 2007, Machu Picchu was declared one of the new wonders of the world in a ceremony held in Lisbon, Portugal, after the participation of one hundred million voters from around the world. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Trips to Machu Picchu: the location:
Machu Picchu is located at 13º 9’47 “south latitude and 72º 32 ’44” west longitude – Peru. It is part of the district of the same name (Machupicchu town), in the province of Urubamba, in the Department of Cuzco, in Peru – Subamerica. The closest major city is Cuzco, current regional capital and ancient capital of the Incas, 130 km from there from Machu .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
The mountains Machu Picchu and Huaynapicchu Montaña are part of a great orographic formation known as Batolito de Vilcabamba, in the Central Cordillera of the Peruvian Andes. They are found on the left bank of the so-called Urubamba Canyon, formerly known as Quebrada de Picchu. At the foot of the hills and practically surrounding them, runs the Vilcanota-Urubamba river. The Inca ruins of Machu Picchu are located halfway between the peaks of both mountains, 450 meters above the valley level and 2,438 meters above sea level. The built-up area is approximately 530 meters long by 200 wide, with 172 buildings in its urban area .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
The ruins of Machu Picchu, properly speaking, are within a territory of the National System of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SINANPE), called the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu for tours, which extends over an area of 32,592 hectares, (80,535 acres or 325.92 km²) of the Vilcanota Urubamba river basin (the Willka mayu or “sacred river” of the Incas). The Historic Sanctuary of Machu protects a series of biological species in danger of extinction and several Inca establishments, among which Machu Picchu is considered main as a wonder for tours .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Access and climate of Machu Picchu:
The archaeological zone of Machu Picchu itself is only accessible, either from the Inca trail that reaches it, or by using the Hiram Bingham road to Machu Picchu (which ascends the slope of Cerro Machu Picchu from the Puente Ruinas train station , located at the bottom of the canyon). Neither of the two forms exempts the visitor from the price of admission to the ruins of the tours .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
The aforementioned road for tours, however, is not integrated into the national road network of Peru. It was born in the town of Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town), which in turn can only be accessed by rail (about 3 hours of travel from Cuzco to machupicchu tours) or helicopter (30 minutes of travel from Cuzco to machupicchu tours). The absence of a direct road to the Machu Picchu sanctuary is intentional and allows controlling the flow of visitors to the Machupicchu area, which, given its nature as a national reserve, is particularly sensitive to crowds. This, however, has not prevented the disorderly growth of machu (criticized by the cultural authorities) of Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town), which lives and because of tourism, since there are hotels and restaurants of different categories in this place .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
To get to Machu Picchu by the Inca Trail you must do a walk of about 2 to 4 days of the tours. It is necessary to take the train to km 82 of the Cuzco – Aguas Calientes railway (Machupicchu town), from where the walking tour starts. Some visitors take a local bus from tours Cuzco to Ollantaytambo (via Urubamba) and from there they take a transportation on the tours to the aforementioned km 82. Once there they travel the train tracks until they cover the 32km that there are to Aguas Calientes (Machupicchu town ) .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Climate of Machu Picchu:
For a good tour we must see the weather if it is hot and humid during the day and cool at night in Machu Picchu. The temperature ranges between 12 and 24 degrees Celsius. The area is generally rainy (about 1,955 mm per year), especially between November and March. Machu rains, which are copious, quickly alternate with moments of intense sunlight in Machupicchu .. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
The history of Machu Picchu:
Most modern archaeologists and historians agree that Machu Picchu Montaña was built by the Inca Pachacútec, the greatest statesman of Tahuantinsuyo, who ruled from 1438 to 1471 – Peru. Archaeologists presume that the construction of the city would date from the 15th century, approximately, a chronological date given by carbon 14 or radiocarbon. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Built as a refuge for the most select of the Inca aristocracy, the fortress of Machu Picchu was located on the eastern slope of the Vilcanota mountain range, about 80 km from Cusco – Peru – Subamerica, the capital of the empire. Its strategic geographical location was chosen with admirable wisdom from machu. Surrounded by deep cliffs and away from the sight of strangers by a tangled jungle, the city of Machu Picchu had the quality of having only one narrow entrance, which allowed, in the event of a surprise attack, to be defended by very few warriors. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Occupied by at least three generations of Incas, the city of Machu Picchu Montaña was abandoned in a sudden and mysterious decision. The most solid hypotheses explain its disappearance from historical memory because Machu Picchu Montaña was an unknown place for the lower castes and its routes forbidden anyone who was not part of the small Inca circle. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
a tours to Machu Picchu Mountain for its natural beauty, benign climate (one of the best in the Andes) and rich soil, Pachacútec established in the Tampu Valley the favorite settlement of the new imperial nobility, adorning the valley with several of the most lavish cities such as tours to Ollantaytambo and tours to Machu Picchu Mountain. The choice of site to build the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu Montaña had to be done with great care, since it was, and still is, a perfect place to build a ceremonial center. It was located, according to the researcher Antonio Zapata in his travels, in the most important mountain chain due to its sacred character, which begins on the trek to Salcantay and ends at Huaynapicchu Montaña. It was a privileged place to observe the movement of the stars and the sun, Inca deities. In addition, according to his investigations, the place had a quarry nearby that could provide the finest Inca white granite stones. (Tours Peru Machu Picchu).
Projects for the Conservation of Ingenious Systems of the World Agricultural Heritage (SIPAM VIAJES A PERU):
Travel in the Corridor Machupicchu – Lake Titicaca – Puno (Travel in Peru) The Global Program of Ingenious Systems of the World Agricultural Heritage (SIPAM VIAJES PERU) [Globally Important Ingenious Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS PERU VIAJE)] of the FAO SACRED LAND ADVENTURES has as a purpose to support travel conservation and sustainable management of: “remarkable systems of land use and landscapes rich in biological diversity that evolve from the ingenious and dynamic adaptation of a community / population to its environment and the needs and aspirations for the sustainable development in travel in Peru ”.
The meaning of this definition is very close to the category “cultural landscape” of the World Heritage Convention and category VI (Protected Area of Managed Resources in Peru) of IUCN TRAVEL. SIPAM VIAJES has, for various reasons, great potential for synergy with the GRI PERU TRAVEL initiative. In the first place, it is a project executed globally with financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF / GEF / TRAVEL PERU) that is in the process of defining a group of selected sites as global representations of this type of system for trips to Peru. . One of the candidate sites is the case of the landscapes and agricultural systems of the Inka corridor with trips to Machupicchu – Lake Titicaca Puno. Additionally, the Inca site in the incredible Peru has advanced to the phase of identification and diagnosis of the systems to be conserved and a project concept has been formulated (CONAM VIAJES with national partners such as IMA-VIAJES, ANPE-VIAJES, ITDG-VIAJES and CARE-TRAVEL).
The ingenious systems associated with the MachuPicchu – Lake Titicaca Puno Tour stretch of travel (also called the “Travel Corridor to Cuzco – Puno” travel project) include support for conservation and sustainable uses by a wide range of agrarian institutions, from (i) construction of landscapes for soil and water management, such as platforms, elevated fields (waru waru), water stores (cochas), wetlands or managed swamps, and protection of land and houses for trips to Peru (basketball court); (ii) ancestral practices of organization of the agricultural territory and land rotation such as laymes and aynokas, or traditional systems of circulation and renewal of native seed for travel in Peru; (iii) technologies for the transformation and storage of agricultural products (such as chuño en el viaje); and (iv) the material inheritance of cultivars of native species and of the traditional seed circuits that make such diversity possible in trips to Cusco, trips to Puno, trips to Lima, trips to Arequipa, trips throughout Peru.
The scope of execution of this travel project in Peru coincides with approximately 350 kilometers of the section of the GRI PERU TOURS that connected the Inca valley of Cusco, that is, the upper basin of the Vilcanota River, with the circumlacustrine area and the slopes that are found around Lake Titicaca Puno tour. In this section, the SIPAM VIAJES initiative has proposed to work with six peasant communities, out of a total of approximately 300 that are in this section of the GRI PERU TOURS. The purpose of this project for the Sacred Valley is to strengthen the local agricultural systems of traditional Andean crops such as corn, potato, bitter potato, amaranth, quinoa from the Sacred Valley of the Incas (Cuzco) and quinoa from height (Puno), arracacha, yacón , olluco, aguaymanto, tree tomato, tarwi, mashwa, oca, qañiwa and maca through the sacred valley of the Incas.
This project example illustrates the potential of the Great Inca Route for travel in Peru as an axis for the organization of the territory and as a means to give added value to actions for the conservation of agrarian landscapes related to Peruvian Andean agro-biodiversity. The relationship of the GRI PERU VIAJES initiative with SIPAM-VIAJES could, for example, facilitate (a) the articulation of these systems of domesticated species to the conservation of wild landscapes in the trips to Machupicchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas (as for example the IBA-PERU); (b) the social and economic sustainability of these agro-biodiversity conservation systems when linked to the development of community tourism markets on trips to the Sacred Valley of the Incas; (c) the incredible development of an institutional platform that streamlines the travel training, knowledge management and organization necessary for the peoples of GRI-PERU-VIAJES to locate these crops in larger-scale markets on trips in the Peru. An example of synergy between the development of traditional Andean cultivation systems and the revitalization of GRI-PERU-VIAJES is the development of “denominations of origin” as already obtained in INDECOPI-PERU for the “Giant White Corn of Cuzco incredible ”and the process that is beginning with the colored quinoa produced in the circumlacustrine area of Lake Titicaca – Puno Tour 1 day.
Due to the historical association of GRI PERU VIAJES with the use of llamas (Lama glama tour sacred valley) as the main means of travel transportation, those national or regional initiatives focused on the management of Andean camelids in the sacred valley should also be highlighted. In incredible Peru, there are the various activities carried out by the National Council of South American Camelids (CONACS VIAJES PERU) that has cooperation agreements with Ecuador for the reintroduction of llamas, alpacas (Lama pacos Tour) and vicuñas (Vicugna vicugna Viajes en Valle Sagrado ). Recently, the REDICAS (Research Network on South American Camelids on trips to Cusco, Machupicchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas) has been established at the regional level, mostly with membership of trips in Ecuador, trips in Peru, trips in Argentina and trips in Bolivia. As mentioned above, llamas have been reintroduced with great success on the Inca Naani – Sacred Valley Route and other secondary routes of Ancash such as Olleros and Chavín during trips to the mountains.
The lines of action related to Andean agrobiodiversity issues have a long tradition of implementation at a regional scale for trips in Peru. For example, the projects sponsored by IDRC-PERUVIAN for the study of Andean agricultural systems, as well as the CIP-COSUDE PERU VIAJES Collaborative Program – Andean Roots and Tubers executed in the CAN-VIAJES countries, which together represent about 20 years of experience in researching Andean crops in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
