Lares trek An alternative to do an adventure trek in the mountains of the Inca trail to Machu Picchu passing through the Valley Lares Trekking. A cultural exploration of the Urubamba Valley, the famous “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, and the spectacular Inca archaeological site of Machu Picchu tours, combining a walk through the little visited and less populated region of Lares, north of the city of Cusco, notable for its rural atmosphere, traditional weavers dressed in colorful dresses and herds of wandering alpacas and llamas – an authentic sample of Peruvian life. Comfortable mountain huts serve as luxury “base camps” for daily hikes that will take you to remote passes with panoramic views of waterfalls, snow-capped peaks and turquoise glacial lagoons, with the occasional condor soaring high, and to small communities high above. Andinas that have been preserved in time for centuries, where you can meet weavers and farmers in the area, and take a look at the past.
Transfer from the hotel at 5 am to then go to the town of Lares on the way we will be able to appreciate the majestic sacred valley with its fertile lands, then we arrive at the small town of Calca (2940 masl) then ascending through the small villages of Totora and Maucaupata where the settlers dress in their typical costumes, and are mostly dedicated to textiles, agriculture and livestock.
Finally after a trip of approx. 4 hours we arrive at Lares (3,200 masl) visit the thermal baths to take a refreshing bath. After lunch, after having contacted our muleteers, we started the walk arriving at our first camp in 4 hours Wacawasi (3600 masl)
After breakfast we start the walk to our second camp. This day we start early as we will ascend passing through the ipsay pass on the way we will appreciate different peasant communities as well as different customs and textiles that they themselves weave for daily use. We will arrive at the ipsaycocha lagoon where lunch will be, after a nap we will continue to the town of Patacancha where we will spend the second night.
After breakfast we will continue with our walk to the small town of Willoq, a population with original customs, we will also pass through small towns during our walk we will be able to observe the archaeological remains of Qochapata and Pumamarca . At approximately 2:00 pm we will arrive at the town of Ollantaytambo, after lunch we will have free time until 7:30 pm after which we will board the train to Aguas Calientes we will spend the last night in a lodging with private bathroom and hot water. </ p>
Very early we will start walking towards the Inca city of Machupicchu to be able to see the sunrise and then have the guided tour of approximately 2:30 min after which we will have free time until 3:00 pm and at 4:00 pm we will board the train back to Cusco.
