Inti Punku Ollantaytambo Sun Gate Trailhead

First, leave Ollantaytambo’s adorable Plaza de Armas and head out of town toward the mighty Vilcanota River. Look for a blue sign that takes you to the trailhead. It should say Trekking to the Cachiccata Quarries with white letters and an arrow. This is the route that the Ancient Inca Quarry Trail follows.

There is another beginning of the Inti Punku hiking trail that begins on the way from the town of Cachiccata. The route is faster, steeper and not as picturesque, although it passes through some interesting colcas.
