1. Altitude – Inka Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu:

This trip reaches 4,350m by car, which some may struggle with. To avoid problems with the altitude we recommend that you arrive in Cusco at least 48 hrs prior to departure of the trek. During these 48 hrs you should drink plenty of fluids, avoid alcohol, and rest. You may also wish to bring tablets to reduce the effects of altitude sickness. While walking on the trek there is no rush – remember to take your time, enjoy the stunning views and give your body a chance to acclimatize. If you are breathing hard and your limbs feel heavy you are ascending too quickly, a slow rhythmic pace with regular breaks is better. (Tours Peru Machupicchu)

In the Cusco region of the Andes there are just 2 distinct seasons. The winter season runs from April and November and is predominantly dry. It gets quite warm during the days, but can be very cold at night. During the summer season between November to March Cusco receives a lot of rain, with the most falling in December, January, and February. This rain is heavy but rarely prolonged, and is interspersed by many prolonged sunny periods. When the sun is out it can be warm, but when the rain comes temperatures tend to lower.
