<\/span>THE INTY RAYMI FESTIVAL IN CUSCO – PERU<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Inti Raymi Cusco (Fiesta del Sol) is one of the biggest festivities that take place in the city of Cusco, the main day is June 24, the celebration begins the first days of June, the town pays homage to its God the Sun, every day parades are presented in the Plaza de Armas, each institution presents its best typical dances, dressed in colorful and eccentric suits, it is an immense party that fills the Cuzco population with pride, men and women proud of their Inca roots.EMUFEC<\/a><\/p>\n

On June 24, it is the main festival in honor of the Sun God, the staging of this important celebration takes place in three historical and natural settings in the center of the city of Cusco.<\/p>\n

1.- Qoricancha<\/strong> (Golden Fence) in the time of the Incas, this place was considered a sacred temple in honor of the Sun God.<\/p>\n

2.- The Plaza de Armas of Cusco<\/strong> (the old Auqaypata or Plaza del Guerrero): During the Incas, the ceremony was fully developed in this immense square in the middle of the great ushnu or ceremonial platform.<\/p>\n

3.- Saqsaywaman 3.-<\/strong> Saqsaywaman (voice that derives from the Quechua terms “saqsay” and “waman” which translated into Spanish means “feed falcon”). This impressive archaeological center is located at 3,555 meters above sea level, one kilometer from the Inca neighborhood of Qolqanpata. (These are the 3 places where the staging of the cult of the Sun takes place, but the most complete ceremony takes place on the esplanade of the archaeological center of Sacsayhuaman<\/a>)<\/p>\n

In this Final Act, dances are presented, there is a ceremonial location for the actors, more than 800 actors on stage, the rite of chicha (sacred drink of the Incas), Rite to the Sacred Fire, Sacrifice of the Llama (camelid of the Ande peruvian) their blood is drunk and with their sacrifice to forecast omens, the rite to the Sankhu (Sacred Bread of the Incas) is performed and finally the Q’ochorikuy<\/p>\n

With this Rite the celebration of the God Inti ends and the celebration of the day of the imperial Cusco, navel of the world, also ends.<\/p>\n
